If you're a designer, like me, you have far more ideas than time. Samples pile up, and those folders of design notes and pattern first drafts get derailed by the need to get to the next design.
Or maybe you're putting together a design collection, for yourself or a publishing house, and need help getting the patterns written, to meet a deadline.
Put your design samples and notes into my hands. I am a designer with 18 years experience writing clear and concise hand knitting patterns, for print and self-publishing.
A written pattern, in one size, to be expanded to multiple sizes.
A written pattern, in one or more sizes, to be rewritten in an alternate gauge.
A schematic, sketch, design and construction notes, with gauge and desired measurements, to be written in the designer's preferred style. For simply-shaped garments, at least a swatch is required. For any garment with unusual or complex shaping, a knit sample is required.
Format of Submitted Data
Digital files (PDFs, .doc, .txt, Pages, or AppleWorks files) can be emailed or sent to me via Dropbox (which is an easy online file transfer system.)
Hard copies can be snail mailed.
Knit sample(s) can accompany legible notes.
Turnaround
Turnaround can be as quick as a couple/few days, but can take a few days longer, if the pattern is long or complex.
An average sweater pattern can take approximately 5-10 hours, a hat approximately 4 hours, depending on complexity, number of sizes, and any additional required math, such as including metric calculations.
Naturally, sizing an already-written pattern will go more quickly than writing a pattern from scra tch in several sizes.
