WILD RIPPLE WARMER
|
|
About The Design:
This is a fun accessory with its wild animal colors enlivened with shots of bright color, in a zig zaggy stitch pattern, which ruffles ever so slightly around the body when worn.
Trendy pieces should always be quick to knit, and this one is no exception - a weekend is all it takes, using 3 strands of yarn on large needles.
The cheetah sample, at the top, is knit using 2 shades of Cascade Yarns Eco and 1 strand of Cascade 220. The snow leopard sample, at the bottom, uses 3 shades of Eco.

Other Materials:
32-40" US size 15 (10 mm) ckn, 16" US size 15 ckn (optional - see Pattern Notes, Tapestry ndl, Stitch marker
Gauge:
11 sts and 15 rnds = 4" (10 cm) in St st using 3 strands Eco or 10.5 sts and 14 rnds = 4" in St st using 2 strands Eco and 1 strand Cascade 220, with size 15 ndls or size to give gauge. To save time, take time to check gauge.
Notes:
1) Samples used between 280 and 320 grams yarn total, so allowing for knitter differences in yarn usage, please allow for 100 grams each MC1, MC2, MC3, and 50 grams CC.
2) You can easily go larger in ndl size and gauge, but not smaller, comfortably.
3) You may use the Magic Loop method of working a small circ, eliminating the need for a 16" ckn.
4) Although the Cheetah sample (with pink) used Cascade 220 as one of its strands, I would not substitute the 220 for all the Eco strands, as this will affect gauge, unless you then use 4 strands of the worsted wt, or 3 strands worsted wt and 1 strand sport wt. If you wish to use other weights of yarn, aim for a super bulky wt. of approximately 18 yds/oz.
5) I found it best to prewash the Cobalt Eco hank, to wash out the excess dye that some strong colors can have.
Substitute Yarn Weight: Heavy Worsted Wt. (used triple) or Super Bulky Wt.
