SCRUMPTIOUS SLIP STITCH SLIPPER SOCKS

This slipper sock pattern is in 7 sizes and is a quick-to-knit project. By knitting with 2 strands of yarn, when they are done being knit, they are done!
Which brings me to what makes these slipper socks scrumptious. The yarn - Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted, used double - is so soft and cozy. As the woman's medium size only needs 2 skeins, the project has a reasonable price, and, as they are quick to knit, warm and comforting, they would be ideal slipper socks to knit for Children In Common (CIC).
The design employs the use of Heel Stitch, not just in the heel flap, but, also in the Dutch (or square) heel turning and along the entire sole of the sock. This stitch pattern adds some needed thickness and cushiness to the sock, for extra wear and comfort. You can knit the instep in stockinette or continue the rib, that began at the leg. I've set up the sole/instep so that there will be a balanced rib on the instep, if you choose to do the rib.
I've used 2 colors together in each of the samples, for a marled effect - some are bright, especially the children's socks, others are muted and earthy. Lamb's Pride comes in a wide array of colors, so choose the two colors you like best!

Yarn: Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted, 85% wool/ 15% mohair, 190 yd/4 oz pull skeins, 1 / 1 / 1 (1 / 1 / 2) 2 skeins each of 2 colors (for a tweedy effect). Colors used in the samples:
Sm. Child: M16 Seafoam & M52 Spruce
Med. Child: M38 Lotus Pink & M105 RPM Pink
Lg. Child: M65 Sapphire & M79 Blue Boy
Sm. Wom.: M56 Clematis & M25 Garnet
Med. Wom.: M84 Mauve Dust & M85 Antique Mauve
Lg. Wom.: M98 Woodgrain & M67 Loden Leaf
Med. Men: M75 Blue Heirloom & M47 Tahiti Teal
Gauge: 15 sts and 22 rnds = 4" (10 cm) [3.75 sts and 5.5 rnds = 1" (2.5 cm)] over st st with 2 strands yarn held tog and size 9 ndls, or size to give gauge.
If using one color of yarn, you will need 170 / 200 / 255 (290 / 345 / 400) 475 yards total per pair of socks, or 1 / 2 / 2 (2 / 2 / 3) 3 skeins.
