what I've been up to, Saint Barbara

what I've been up toAlign Center
Taking and retaking design photos, working on the 2nd sleeve of the Fana KAL pullover, tending to printer problems, finishing a sock design sample, tending to my health, tending to the garden, tending to printer problems (worth a 2nd and even a 3rd mention), tending to my household. Things tend to fall by the wayside, like blogging anf twittering. There's only so many hours and too much to take care of. Too many problems, sometimes.

I *could* write every day or so, and have been good about that for a long time, but I need to *want* to write. And have something half-way interesting to say, that isn't a gripe!

Chemo and radiation sure have their load of negative side effects, long and short term, to be stuck dealing with.

But I have found *one* positive. Only one, mind you, and not a biggee, but, nonetheless - my nails have never, and I mean *never*, been this strong in my entire life. They're not rock hard, like hubby's, but harder than *I've* ever had. For a while there, during chemo, they were paper thin and SO weak.

Now if the edema and Reynaud's would just GO AWAY. It's June and my fingers are still going white - ridiculous.

Luckyvitamin.com delivers very snappily. So, I have been taking the thyroid support, which *can* have the added side effect of losing weight. I wouldn't mind that at all (and am waiting with bated breath), especially as I can't seem to lose these 5-6 lbs of water. *Something's* gotta go. Besides my mind, that is!

I did get that 6th garden bed composted and planted, finally - more beans and carrots and some spinach. I know we'll have more than we need, but reminded him that, besides the guys at work to give extras too, there's also the local food bank, whose coffers are low.

A garden needs daily attendance, though. You can't just go pick a little lettuce for lunch. You also gotta weed. You can't just pick a little asparagus for dinner. You also gotta weed.

That's what I harvest the most of - weeds! So, I mulched most of the beds, now that things have sproing forth enough. That'll give the weeds a run for their money. Then I watered it all, which meant only one thing - rain! It's got the same rain-producing power as washing your car.

Barbara Bretton is a sweetie. We're Mutual Appreciation Society members!

I've been feeling a bit besides myself, with this upcoming radiation (bah humbug), then I get a package in Saturday's mail. Did I order something? Can hardly trust my brain any more to remember if I did or not.

Then I see it's from Barbara. Now *what* did she go and do!? Could hardly get inside the front door and over to my office to open it up. Who needs to open a pile of bills, when there's A Package!

Lookee! - a nifty, Swiss Army Knife of knitting kits!

A retractable measuring tape, thread cutter, crochet hook (as all knitters need a crochet hook), folding scissors, bendable row markers, point protectors and a built-in row counter with a locking button!

Thank you tons, Barbara, for the wonderful gift!

The Knit Kit is completely cool - makes you feel like a knitting MacGyver! What a nice thing for Barbara to do. I added some tapestry needles to mine to darn in ends; they fit right in with the ring markers.

Smart thinking, Anne!
