this 'n that

In the Jan. '07 issue of Macworld is a little felted wool case with daisy embroidery. It looks like an old-fashioned eyeglass case, but it's really an Ipod case! Great idea for warding off Ipod snatchers!, and eminently easy for we knitters to whip up.

Had to whip up another pair of super thick house socks for moi - as an older pair is wearing out. I try to have 4 good pairs in circulation. And am on pair #14 for CIC. I'll get a photo of them up one of these days.

Still waiting on new print head to come and the new-to-me-Mac should be on the road to me, she says as waits with baited breath.

I have the next idea for the baby blanket series and it wasn't even on my list of blanket ideas. Gotta order yarn today, as getting the right color mix is crucial. According to Webs, Berroco has a new Peruvian wool yarn, called, naturally, Peruvia. Looks like a singles yarn, all tweeds, heathers, heavy worsted wt., really good price. Berroco doesn't have it on their site, tho they have other new yarns up. Yarndex doesn't have it listed and no shops seem to come up when googling. Talk about new.

I'll be getting a couple hanks, as well as some of the Eco+, as I have been using for the baby blankets. Webs doesn't have all the colors in the Eco+ that I need, but a heather might actually work better, if it's soft enough - we'll see.

And, speaking of yarns, is it my imagination or is there NO-ONE on the US east coast that carries Briggs & Little yarns, particularly their Atlantic and Country Roving yarns????
I've googled til I'm blue. I'd order from Canadian shops, but one place charges $11 postage for over $10 in merchandise and the other charges $11 for over $20 worth. Nope. Won't do it.

I thought I'd try their Atlantic for thick socks and the Country Roving for fulled booties for CIC.

Has anyone ordered direct from Briggs & Little, and can give an idea as to the postage they charge?
Comments:
I once bought Briggs & Little Regal from someone up in Canada who was selling through eBay. Sadly, she seems to have stopped her business, and of course, I can't find other retailers here on the US East Coast who sells these yarn. Haven't tried ordering direct from the company. If you find other places, let me know - I'd like to buy more of B&L yarn as well.
