Still Adjusting, Finally Winter Weather, Designing
Still Adjusting
I'm right-handed, but need to learn how to mouse with my left. Right arm and shoulder is already tight and achy, and it's only been a few days! So, maybe just a separate small trackpad? Found one for Mac here, but not completely thrilled with it - will keep looking.
In the meantime, I can't tell you how many times my right finger goes to the desk in front of the keyboard and starts making little trackpad movements! I'm looking at the screen and nothing is happening, then I go, DUH! 5 years of trackpadding has trained my right hand really well.
Finally, Some Winter Weather
It's been miserable out today - snow, then sleet, then snow, then sleet. I'm surprised the mail actually came. Except for short forays into shoveling and dog walking, which gave me windburn despite being wrapped up!, I stayed inside and ethernetted yet more files over from the zips. Now comes the slow part - all the files that are on floppies. I'm just gonna tackle those a little at a time, and save my sanity.
Designing
I'm finally getting some knitting done on the new sweater design. I've put a few previous designs on permanent hold. Some of the samples are knit, but they can lose their lustre over time, to the point where I'll wear the thing, but feel no obligation to make a pattern of it. Running the biz and life interrupt. When I get back to the design, it no longer holds my interest enough to want to go through the arduous task of sizing the thing and writing a pattern.
One of the designs was knit in Donegal Tweed. Great blue color, great tweedy bits, natural, wooly feel, but pills. Constantly picking off the pills. The Lamb's Pride aran I've been wearing TO DEATH, doesn't pill like this yarn, though they're both single ply yarns. That disgruntles me (also as Donegal Tweed costs more than Lamb's Pride) and I'm sure is one reason this sweater will not make it into pattern-land. I'd have to reknit it in a better/different yarn, and I don't feel inclined to do so.
So, if ya'll are wondering WHEN is she ever gonna release a new design?!, now you know why it can take awhile - some of them bite the dust, but not until I've put a lot of time into them.
Morning coffee then more shovelling await me (but there's no wind today - thank goodness, my face is red enough, thank you.)
Onward.

My wrist can not handle a regular mouse for even a few hours... I'm totally with you on the trackpad thing. I hope you find something you like, and soon.
Thanks, Lynn! It looks like there's just the one company that makes an external trackpad for mac. Something wrong with that picture - endless varieties of mice available, and keyboards, but not a separate pad.
