Can't help myself!
Apparently, I can't stop myself from writing. It just doesn't feel like morning unless I write, or at least start, a blog post.
I was going to do just design work this weekend - that was the plan. I can't tell you HOW many times I try and plan a stretch of time for designing, sample knitting and pattern writing, only to have it chewed up and spit out by the words, "There's a showing scheduled."
So, yup, we have a showing tomorrow late morning, which messes up my weekend work plan. I began last night by scrubbing (on hands and knees) one large pine kitchen floor, washing the 2 kitchen rag rugs and their grippy mats and vacuuming the basement stairs.
Today's agenda includes, but is not limited to, cleaning the main bathroom, wiping through the 2 unused bathrooms, dusting floors everywhere, vacuuming up the main staircase and these 3 work/tv rooms, sweeping the long porch and wiping off the porch furniture.
Supposedly these clients are *looking for* a large house. That's a plus. Most weekenders don't need/want a big house, though they come see this big house anyway. Pourquoi? Who knows. The last showing, a week ago, was for a nice couple who wanted a change of life (just like we do every so many years), but how they needed to use the house meant they would have to spend too much money getting it that way. But at least they were nice.
We're feebly trying to hang onto hope. We're worn down from these 14 months of showings and previews. Hopes risen and dashed just as quickly. Winter's coming, again. It's looking bleak. But it's (supposedly) darkest before the Dawn. God, I hope these people fall in love with the house!
On a happier, hopeful designing note - why does everything seem to require hope? Always hoping for something good to finally come? Anyway, my midwest sales reps have added Brown Sheep to their line, which is wonderful, as I have 22 designs worked in Brown Sheep yarns. This can only help (one hopes) my pattern sales in the midwest.
I popped into Peace Fleece yesterday and see they have 2 new colors! What joy! I love to see new colors added to their line. I do think this is my favorite yarn. I love the heathers and tweeds, love the feel with the 30% mohair content, love the price, love the do-goodness of it. When using a yarn like Peace Fleece, one feels that, in some small way, one is helping out. All the small ways, when added together, are not insignificant.
Onward.
