Were it so that a blog by any other name would read as sweet!

I know I'm not as big on blog photos as others are. Alas, in today's visually-oriented, words-only-as-subtext world, I'm a WORD person, not a photo person. Photos are great, and I can appreciate a good photo as well as the next person, but words give the reader the paints and brushes, and let the *reader* paint the imagery.

Today's non-photo imagery-in-words

Inside the small warm room, she is beckoned by the golden and russet light that fills the deep windows to her left and right. Hardly able to keep her eyes on her work, she is drawn to the colored light, knowing how fleeting it all is, how soon the light will go cold.

The Mulberries, maples, honey locust, birches and dogwoods collectively shake off the weight that is their foliage, as if in saying, that's enough, I'm tired. Then, feeling sleepy from the cool air, they relax their shoulders and shed their burden, sliding slowly into a deep sleep. Leaf, by leaf, they twinkle to the ground, as the squirrels madly rush through the cascade, hiding their winter food.

She will soon mourn the leaves, as they lie upon the ground, trees bare and brown. Was it that long ago that spring brought these leaves, which washed the sky in new green? No sighing yet. Still time to grab the colorful glory and commit it to memory, or at least live in its splendor for today.

Onward.
