Where did August go to? It's nowhere near my favorite month so, as the weather here has been very un-August, it's been tolerable enough to fly by instead of torture day by day, heat wave by heat wave!

Went to Kingston yesterday to get a street map of all of Cape Cod as well as DH's dentist visit and a number of errands. Got an email this evening though that means 150 more booklets to print - very good news, but it necessitates another trip to Kingston for more paper.

I have all the Gazette subscriber issues ready for mailing tomorrow. Later than I usually get to mail them, but things all around have not been easy for some time. At least it's only a few days later than I wanted to send them....

Do you already know about where in Cape Cod you want to go? I used to go to Woods Hole every summer (from NYC) for summer research at the MBL. What a delightful town, but pretty dead during the non_summer months, so I heard :) The weather can get pretty crazy there, buy a stone house ~ just kidding~!

Next town over is Falmouth, which is pretty lonesome too, but nice access to the bike path and the ocean. Lots of beaches.

I married in Woods Hole at the Nobska Light :) Was very pretty!!

Lonesome is right up our alley, Maus! That's the one thing we're not looking for - is to live in a place that is busy with tourists all year long. Peace and quiet has always been very important.

So far, we're thinking Falmouth. The northern shore towns might be nice, but the water is much colder. The Sound is warmer, but Barnstable (Hyannis, Centerville) is too congested and commercial. Harwich has lots of older houses, but the town description isn't nearly as interesting as Falmouth. Some towns are touted as being family-friendly. We don't need to be in a town with lots of children, and would prefer not to be. We've had these school busses stop in front of our house for 10 years and honking their horns at 7:15 am! Not gonna miss it.

So, we'll see. We'll be driivng around when we're there to get the feeling of a few towns. At least Falmouth has an historic town center - I love that in a town and, as you said, lots of beaches - very important as well.

I bet your wedding was lovely, to be held in such a wonderful atmosphere! We had ours at an historic restaurant/inn in Warwick, NY. It was small, about 30 people or so, but then we paid for it ourselves. It was December, so a nice place and *really* good food was crucial, as it had to be indoors.
